But is the movie really good or just nonsense? Today I'm sharing my review of A Minecraft Movie!

Movie plot

It all begins when a man named Steve decides to fulfill his childhood dream and go mining in an abandoned mine in his town. He dug so deeply that he finds a blue cube that, when fitted with another object, opens a portal to another dimension (the world of Minecraft). There, he decides to apply all his creativity and create a world just for himself.

Steve lives his life peacefully, but that world isn't so perfect. A witch and her army want the cube to take over the world. Steve sends the cube to the real world and is arrested.

The person who finds the cube is the Trashman, a man who lives off past glories and owns a shop selling 80s items. He doesn't care much for the cube, but a boy who comes to his shop is interested. Touching the cube leads the two to a mine. His sister and her new neighbor track him down, and the four end up in the Minecraft world.

Now, they will venture into the world of Minecraft and try to save it from the Piglin Witch.

The film is quite entertaining, full of references and jokes that really make you laugh. Although it's childish, the film isn't stupid.

The script is far from the film's greatest strength, but since it's a children's film, it's understandable. However, in the end, it's a fun story that doesn't always make sense but never leaves you bored.

One problem with the film is when it tries to stray from the humor and include more dramatic scenes, which ends up being ridiculous instead of impactful.

Production

Now, the main point to highlight in the film is its production. The film is beautiful, with vivid colors and incredible environments, as well as wonderful CGI. There isn't a single ugly scene in the film; it's an eye-catching 1 hour and 41 minutes.

Nostalgia Factor

Here's an element that perhaps made me enjoy the film much more than I would have if it weren't a Minecraft movie.

The film knows how to use fan service and throws in references at just the right moment. Watching the film, I felt like a four-year-old playing Minecraft for the first time and marveling at its world, and that feeling won't be evoked in a critic who only learned about the game as an adult.

Conclusion

A Minecraft Movie is simple, but it gets the job done. It's entertaining and makes you laugh, a perfect movie to watch with your friends.

And my final rating for A Minecraft Movie is...

8/10
